Know what a word processor is and some common examples.
Know the diagram on the bottom of page 87, including common items such as title bar, menu bar, toolbar, rulers, insertion point, status bar na the other task panes list.
Know the common keyboard short cuts for moving the insertion point:
-Ctrl+arrow moves you to the beginning of the word in that direction
-Home or End move you to the beginning or end of the line
-Ctrl+home and Ctrl+end move you to the beginning or end of the document.
- Delete deletes to the right, while backspace deletes to the left
- Enter is only used to end a paragraph
Word wrap is a feature that automatically moves text to the next line when you run out of room.
Know what the show paragraph marks button looks like, and what the different marks it shows mean (dot=space, 'backwards P'=paragraph, arrow=tab)
Know what OVR (over type mode) is and the two ways to get out of it (Insert or double click on OVR in the status bar)
Know that there's only 1 space after a period.
Know about the limitations of spell check and the following:
- red wavy line - spelling error
- green wavy line - grammar error
- blue dotted line - smart tag indicator
Know how to use find and find and replace, and when it would be helpful.
Know what the thesaurus is, that it displays synonyms and antonyms.
Know what Cut Copy Paste and Undo are, and know the keyboard shortcut for each.
Know the difference between serif and sans-serif fonts, what they are commonly used for and what uses each is best suited for.
Know that 72 pt font equals 1 inch.
Know what bold, italic and underline text are
Know what the four alignments are and what they look like: right, left, center and justified.
Know what document collaboration is.
