Your new restaurant or a sports stadium.

Here are the requirements for the restaurant:

Your menu should look like a professional menu that one would expect to see in an actual restaurant
All menu items should be your creation, and prices should be realistic for the style of restaurant
Do not copy another restaurant's menu, this is your restaurant.

Practical Project #2: Job Hunt

Posted On: Tue, 2009-04-14 13:35 by mrschmid

Job Hunt
1) Imagine you've just graduated from college with the degree you've dreamed of. Search online job listing sites such as careerbuilder.com and monster.com for jobs that fit your degree, experience and desire.
2) Find 3 jobs that interest you and match your qualifications. Create a report listing each job title, employer, job description, location and salary range.
3) Create a resume (based on your best estimate of your experiences as if you had just graduated college) that is professional. Be sure your resume meets the expectations that your prospective employer is seeking in terms of information and style.
4) Create a cover letter (3 in all) for each job. Be sure each letter is written for the specific job for which you are applying. A cover letter is typically at least 3 paragraphs in length.

Cover Letters and Resumes:
** I expect you to read the articles below and apply the tips to your resume and cover letters. Pay close attention to the article on giving your resume a face lift.

Grading Considerations:
You will be graded based on the following:
Professionalism (including writing style, spelling and grammar): 50%
Meeting Requirements: 25%
Style and Formatting: 25%

Notes:
Sometimes salary information is not given. If this is the case simply leave the salary information blank.
DO NOT USE A MICROSOFT WORD TEMPLATE - Don't use a template you find anywhere. You want your resume to be unique, not look like everyone else who took the easy way and grabbed a template.

Notes:
Please be considerate in your communication with the missionaries. Don't place any burdens on them. Your grade will not be affected by the amount of cooperation from your missionary.
Choose a missionary from a missions board that's supported by your church. You need to be sure that the missionairy has the same fundamental beliefs as you and your church.

Ch 14-15 Study Guide

Posted On: Fri, 2009-02-13 19:28 by mrschmid

Chapter 14-15 Study Guide
This is to help you study for your quiz over Chapter 14-15.
Do not only memorize this guide word for word, you should be prepared to show that you understand the terms and ideas listed below.
CH 14
A power point presentation is a collection of slides used to enhance a informative speech.
Before creating a powerpoint presentation, you should plan the purpose of the presentation, consider the audience, develop the content, and design the layout.
Avoid using more than three fonts, and pay close attention to how readable your text is.
You can select a layout in the the slide layout panel
Deleting a slide - Edit -> delete slide, or select a slide in layout view, then hit delete.
Placeholders hold text and other content such as pictures.
Normal is the default view that divides the window into the left pane, slide pane and notes pane
Slide sorter displays thumbnails of all the slides
Slide Show view displays  current slide displays the current slide in full-screen mode. F5 will also enter slide show view
The color scheme is the set of colors used throughout the slideshow
The Slide Master controls the design of the entire presentation
Serif fonts have small strokes at the end of the characters, while Sans Serif ("no serif") do not. Serif fonts are easier to read, while sans serifs are considered more modern.
Images can either be added from a file (Insert->Picture->from file) or from the clip art library.
Ch15
Animation adds a visual effect on how items move in the slide. Slide Show-> Animation Schemes will display the animation schemes
Transitions are the way one slide changes to another. Slide Show- Slide Transition
Charts can be added from Excel by copying and pasting
Annotations are markings made on the slide to help the audience understand. Ink is the feature that allows you to "mark up" your slide.
A design template is a set of layouts, formatting, and backgrounds that are used again and again whenever a presentation of that type is needed.
A presentation has a file extension of .ppt, while a presentation template is .pot
Sound can be added from either a file or the sound clip library. Insert -> movies and sounds-> Sound from file or Sound from clip
Movies can be added from either a file or the movie clip library. Insert -> movies and sounds-> movie from file or movie from clip
Common movie files are .avi, .mov, .mpeg, .mpg or .wmv
It's important to test a powerpoint before using it in a live presentation. Be sure all the fonts, movies and other features work.
Packaging a presentation for CD can help ensure your presentation will work on a different computer.
Powerpoint files can be password protected, although the password protection is not very secure, and can be fairly easily broken.
Hyperlinks link to URLs
A powerpoint file can be made into a HTML file to be published to the web by using File -> Save as Web Page
A photo album can be made easily by using the photo album feature. Goto Insert->Picture->New Photo Album
